ChewinggumThe companies have been telling us that gum is good for you, now the American Dental Association agrees. Three of Wrigley’s sugar free chewing gum products have been awarded the ADA Seal of Acceptance. The process involved a detailed study which concluded that the additional production of saliva stimulated by chewing the gums had a beneficial effect, reducing the incidence of plaque and acid in the mouth. On this evidence here is no indication that other sugar free chewing gums should perform any differently, only that they have not taken part in the study and so won’t be getting the ADA’s Seal of Acceptance.
